Advanced Search

Use this tool to narrow your search by category or type of record, or try Keyword Search if you want to be more general with your search.

• Title searches only the title of a document or item.
• Creator / Person Name narrows results by Artist, Creator, Photographer, Author, or the name of a relevant person.
• Object Name searches by the type of item, e.g. model, letter, pin.
• Search Terms searches relevant terms, such as color or subject matter.
• Date allows you to search by four-digit year, e.g. 1920 or 1974. If you want to search by decade, replace the last number with an asterisk (*) and search for 193* for items in the 1930s.
• Catalog Number can be used to search by the item's specific identifying number.
